Justina Ayu Utami or known by the name Ayu Utami is an Indonesian journalist and writer. Ayu has been known as a novelist since her novel "Saman" won the 1998 Jakarta Arts Council novel writing competition. Her first novel, Saman, received rave reviews from various critics and is considered to provide a new color in Indonesian literature.
